Bailey and Skye

"We have two German Shepherds, Bailey and Skye. Skye has been a challenge to train and fearful of strangers since she was a puppy. Melissa came to our home and with love, patience and wonderful training techniques helped Skye and us.

We are now able to walk her on her leash with ease and send her to her “place” when the doorbell rings. Her response to strangers is also much improved. Our “formal” training has ended but I still call Melissa for advice and she is always very responsive and helpful with any questions I have.

We continue to use Melissa’s training methods every day. The skills she has given us are invaluable."

Hunter

"Melissa has been working with me and my dachshund, Hunter, to address Hunter's behavioral issues. Prior to meeting Melissa, I worked with two other dog trainers and their methods were not effective in achieving the goals I had for my dog.

Hunter responded immediately to Melissa's training and has made tremendous strides. He listens to the commands as taught to me by Melissa which has resulted in him not being so reactive to certain situations.

Hunter is a much calmer dog as a result!"

Bode

"We adopted Bode from a rescue two years ago. He was calm and docile at the rescue but, once he got used to his new environment with us and his dog brother, Prosper, Bode became more difficult to handle. He would bark in a demanding fashion when he wanted atttention, did not walk nicely on the leash, and wanted to have one of us in sight at all times (otherwise he would whine and bark). Melissa has successfully helped us to deal with all of these issues and more. She has a very natural and positive rapport with both of our dogs. She has taught me a great deal about how dogs learn and how to effectively use positive reinforcement to encourage desirable behavior. My relationship with both dogs has been strengthened through my work with Melissa. Working with her has been an amazing gift!"

Cooper

"We welcomed Cooper, an 8 week old Mastador, into our home this December. We are a family of six, which includes 4 kids ranging from the ages 11 to 4 years old. We initially signed up for puppy training at a local pet store, which wind up being more frustrating than helpful. Melissa, from Canine Minds, was then referred to me from a family friend. From day one, she not only connected with Cooper, but partnered with me, my husband and children on the most effective strategies/methods for each of us to utilize to train Cooper. With kids at all varying levels of age, and maturity this was very important. We have worked on nipping, potty training, walking on the leash and greeting behavior when guests enter our home. Cooper is doing great, and every week he gets better and better! I highly recommend Melissa’s services to any new pet owner. It can be an exhausting and trying process, but Melissa has made it easy and manageable for me and my family!"
